When Music Loses Ground: What Katy Perry’s Spaceflight Says About the Industry

While Katy Perry flies to space, I stay grounded – and listen.

Recently, pop icon Katy Perry made headlines by flying into space alongside an all-female crew. A powerful symbol. A historic achievement. A technological feat.
But something about it made me pause.

I started thinking about the growing disconnect in music today. While concert tickets hit three-digit prices, artists are literally leaving the planet. What does that say about how far removed the top of the music industry has become?

I’m an artist myself. And I love big moments.
It’s inspiring to see someone view the world from above. I truly believe such a moment could change your perspective forever.
But when only the ultra-rich can afford it, something magical becomes something exclusive.

When music stops being for everyone

I’ve been a Spotify user since 2012. Music gets me through my day. Without it, things feel off. It helps me work, reflect, process emotions.

That’s why I find it painful when music becomes a spectacle you have to buy into. When tickets cost more than some can afford for a whole month. Music should be a sanctuary – not a privilege.

“In the end, we all breathe the same air. And we all leave this world someday – no matter how rich or poor we are.”

I stay grounded – because you are.

As an independent artist, I won’t headline stadiums with backup dancers or million-dollar stage shows. But I have something more important:
a connection to you.

When I create tracks like my upcoming release Polaris, it’s not to impress – but to be present. With you. In quiet moments.
In days full of doubt. Or nights full of hope. Polaris is for both of us. It’s music for real life.

Why independent music matters

More people are craving music that touches them – not just entertains.
Streaming is great. But it also shows how fragile access can be.
If Spotify is down, or your signal’s weak, what’s left?

Real music lives beyond the cloud.
It lives in the feeling.

I’m not a popstar. I’m Areisha.
And I make music that stays – not just for a season,
but for the memories that live in your heart.

Let’s bring music back to where it belongs:
Close to the people. Close to the soul.

If that resonates with you –
pre-save my next track Polaris.
Because this moment matters.
