How Solar Was Born – A Homage to a Timeless Era

There are moments when you hear a melody, and you’re instantly transported back in time –
to a place where everything seemed possible.

That’s exactly what happened to me in June 2024,
when I stumbled upon a nearly forgotten track from the 90s.
The textures, the atmosphere, the feeling of openness and infinity –
it wouldn’t let me go.
I knew: I had to write something that would capture this feeling.
That’s how Solar came to life.

The Influence of Jam & Spoon and the Power of Sonic Landscapes

As a teenager, I was deeply moved by the cinematic soundscapes of Jam & Spoon.
The way they made music not just to hear, but to feel – that stayed with me.
In Solar, I tried to capture this same emotional depth:
with slowly unfolding pads, a melody that feels like sunrise,
and a sound design that evokes a horizon without end.

From First Notes to Final Mastering – The Making of Solar

Every track has its own journey.
Solar began with one simple idea:
a pad that spreads like sunlight.

Hours and hours in the studio followed –
using my Elektron Syntakt, the Moog Subsequent 37, and carefully chosen Arturia plugins –
to create a soundscape that brought back the very feeling I had as a child,
looking up at the sky and dreaming.

The final polish came from Alex, a mastering engineer I’ve worked with for a while.
He immediately understood what I wanted Solar to express,
and gave the track the final touch – full of depth and dynamics.

What Solar Means to Me – More Than Just Music

To me, Solar isn’t just a track.
It’s a time capsule. A feeling.
An echo of the 90s in a modern sound world.

It’s about melancholy, longing,
and that indescribable moment when the first light breaks through the sky
and a new day begins.
